Ephesians 6:14a, 17
Stand firm.......... Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Hebrews 11:1
1: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Blind faith. You have probably heard all of your life that Christians have blind faith. Does the bible teach blind faith, is there such a thing? The answer to that is, no. There is no such thing in scripture and any Christian that thinks it is and practices their faith accordingly needs to read their bibles, pray for Holy Spirit's counsel, study to show themselves approved and become mature. Christians that think blind faith is scriptural simply are lazy so that they cannot defend what they believe and they end up giving Christians a bad name. So what is Hebrews speaking of it is not blind faith? When it says that faith is being sure of what we hope for we need to understand the meaning of "hope" and why we are to have it. Hope does not mean a wish or day dream the way that we often use it. It means a reasonable (reasoned) confidence that something will come to pass. It is reasonable to believe that God will meet our needs because:

1.) He did not withhold even the life of His Son from us.
2.) He promises time and time again that He will meet our
needs, never leave us and keep His promises.
3.) We have a covenant relationship with Him and He
     cannot break His covenant.

2 Corinthians 1:20a
20: For in him (Jesus) every one of God's promises is a "Yes."....

When you go to God to ask Him to meet your needs based on His promises the answer is always yes because of the covenant relationship (that God cannot break) Christians have through the sacrifice of Jesus. My faith is not something I generate on my own. My faith is based on the fact that God is absolutely faithful. I have reasoned confidence that God will keep His Word. He is not a man that He should lie (Number 23;19; Hebrews 6:18).

You might ask, "isn't it talking about blind faith when it says, "and certain of what we do not see"? If you use your physical eyes that might be true but we are told to look at what is unseen because that is what is eternal or real.

2 Corinthians 4:18
18: So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

The spiritual world is eternal but the physical world is temporary. God created it out of what was not seen (Hebrews 11:3) and it will some day cease to exist (Psalm 102:25-26; Matthew 24:35; Hebrews 1:10-12). The spiritual world has always existed and it always will. This makes the spiritual world the real world. The temporary (virtual) world was created out of it. Why shouldn't I be certain of the real world. It is reasonable to have faith for things that are eternal rather than virtual reality. My faith is not blind, it is spiritual. If you are not born again (John 3:3-8) and filled with God's spirit then this will make no sense to you. As I said at the beginning, this is not blind faith. This type of faith comes about by study and spiritual growth.

1 Corinthians 2:14
14: The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
