Ephesians 6:14a, 17
Stand firm.......... Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Proverbs 3:13-15
13: Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,
14: for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.
15: She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

My daughter was reading her One Year Bible tonight and asked me about this passage. She is familiar with the song, "More Precious Than Silver" and knew the lyrics to that song are similar but not the same as this passage. She wanted to know if this is the passage the song was taken from. I told her it was. She then pointed out that in the song the lyrics are, "Lord, you are more precious than silver" but in the scripture it says that Wisdom is more precious than silver. I could see that she was thinking the song was miss quoting the Bible and she knows that is an absolute no, no. We do not change scripture for our convenience, opinion, doctrinal view point or even if it makes a song sound better. I pointed out to her that the Bible says that Jesus is the "Wisdom of God" and since Jesus is Lord, to say, "Lord, you are more precious than silver" is biblically accurate.

1 Corinthians 1:24
24: but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (Jesus) the power of God and the wisdom of God.

So why is Wisdom (Jesus) so precious to us? Here are two scriptures that give us insight to that question.

Proverbs 3:16-18
16: Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
17: Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
18: She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.

Proverbs 4:7
7: Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

I encourage you to read all of chapter 3 & 4 of Proverbs. Every place it says wisdom, understanding, she or her replace it with the name of Jesus. It will not violate the integrity of scripture. It is really quite astounding!
